چکیده

Second-order reverse correlation (second-order Wiener-kernel analysis) was carried out between spike responses in single aVerent units from the basilar papilla of the red-eared turtle and band limited white noise auditory stimuli. For units with best excitatory frequencies (BEFs) below approximately 500 Hz, the analysis revealed suppression similar to that observed previously in anuran amphibians. For units with higher BEFs, the analysis revealed dc response with narrow-band tuning centered about the BEF, combined with broad-band ac response at lower frequencies. For all units, the analysis revealed the relative timing and tuning of excitation and various forms of inhibitory or suppressive eVects. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

A phenomenological model for the responses of auditory-nerve fibers: I. Nonlinear tuning with compression and suppression.

A phenomenological model was developed to describe responses of high-spontaneous-rate auditory-nerve (AN) fibers, including several nonlinear response properties. Level-dependent gain (compression), bandwidth, and phase properties were implemented with a control path that varied the gain and bandwidth of tuning in the signal-path filter. By making the bandwidth of the control path broad with re...

Comparative analysis of spectro-temporal receptive fields, reverse correlation functions, and frequency tuning curves of auditory-nerve fibers.

The tuning properties of single auditory-nerve fibers (ANFs) are characterized with spectro-temporal receptive fields (STRFs), reverse correlation functions (revcors), and frequency tuning curves (FTCs). Measures of tuning and latency from the STRFs and revcors are largely comparable to the traditional measures of tuning from FTCs and measures of latency from peristimulus time histograms (PSTHs...

Activity patterns of primary auditory-nerve fibres in Development of fundamental properties chickens:

We have examined the activity patterns of single auditory-nerve fibres in the chicken and tested for possible changes during post-hatching development. For this purpose, we recorded from fibres in the cochlear ganglion of chickens of two age groups (about P2 and P21) and investigated their spontaneous and sound-evoked activity patterns under nembutal-chloralhydrate anaesthesia. The spontaneous ...

DESIGN AND STRUCTURE OF A NEW DEVICE FOR AUDITORY ELECTRICAL STIMULATION FOR SUPPRESSION OF TINNITUS

Auditory Electrical Stimulation for Tinnitus Suppression Tinnitus is the conscious experience of sound which arises in the head of its owner, but without a voluntary origin obvious to that person. About 10-15% of all adults report prolonged spontaneous tinnitus (PST). There are a lot of methods for suppressing this complaint. One of these methods is electrical stimulation. Electrical stimu...
